Study Overview

Eurofins Alba are looking for volunteers who would like to participate in a research study in which two deodorant formulations (one aerosol and one stick) and the effect of no treatment) are being tested to see how they affect the appearance and dryness of underarm skin that is already irritated.

The Provocation Phase

The first week of the Axillary Study (the Provocation Phase), is designed to cause some irritation in your underarms. You will need to follow an exaggerated daily washing, shaving and antiperspirant application regime for seven consecutive days. You will be provided with an unperfumed soap and disposable razor for washing and shaving, and a roll-on antiperspirant product which must be applied four times per day.

The Test Phase

In the second week (the Test Phase) you will receive the test product(s). You will be randomly assigned to receive either:

· the two test products; one designated to your left underarm and the other designated to your right underarm, or

· one of the test products. The test product will be randomly designated to one of your underarms with the other underarm receiving no treatment.

You will be required to apply the products twice each day (once each morning and once each evening), for 14 days. The products will be clearly marked as to which underarm they must be applied.

Study Visits

The study will be conducted in two groups. If you agree to participate you will be invited to attend a screening visit where we will assess your eligibility to participate. The study will start 2 days later. Each group will participate over a period of 3 weeks. You will be required to visit the site 10 times (including your screening visit) as per the table below:
