To be eligible to take part you must have Hidradenitis Suppurativa.
What is Hidradenitis Suppurativa (Acne Inversa)?
Hidradenitis suppurativa, also called acne inversa, is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that causes painful lumps under your skin in the sweat glands in the underarm, breast area or groin. It is characterised by persistent or recurrent boil-like nodules and abscesses that culminate in a purulent discharge, sinuses, and scarring.
The bumps can get infected. When that happens, pockets form under your skin and fill with pus. They can smell bad when they break open. They can also leave scars.
Study Visits
The study is a single visit to our Edinburgh Test Centre on Monday, 15 December 2025. Appointments are between 8:30am to 4:30pm and the visit will last approximately 2.5 hours.
Volunteer Expenses
On completion of this study, you will receive £240 expenses.
