Study Overview
Eurofins Alba is inviting you to participate in a research study in which bath products will be tested. The purpose of the study is to assess the irritancy potential of the diluted material in the eyes. You will not obtain any medical or cosmetic benefit from your participation from this study and your participation is voluntary. You will be asked questions about your health and medication.
You must have sensitive eyes to take part in this study.
The visit will take approximately 2 hours. If the optometrist observes any irritation at this point, you will be required to return 24h later for a further assessment.
You will have been asked to attend this visit having not applied any cosmetics to your face on this day.
An optometrist will perform a general evaluation of your eyes - it will be a routine eye examination at an optician and will include the application of irrigating solution from a Fluoret strip into your eye for the optometrist to assess certain areas of your eye. After this assessment you will be asked if you feel any burning, stinging, or itching in your eyes. It may be that we are unable to take you onto the study based on your answers to the questions or the results of either of the evaluations.
Once the optometrist has assessed your eyes and is happy for you to continue, you will be asked to rinse your eyes, using eye baths, with both test product dilutions for 5 seconds per eye. This may sting slightly, but the sensation only lasts a few seconds.
The optometrist will perform the same assessment on your eyes 5 min and 60 min after you have rinsed your eyes with the test products. If the optometrist observes any irritation at this point, you will be required to return 24h later for a further assessment - if required you will be given an extra £5 expenses.
Please Note: contact lens wearers must wear glasses to the study visit.
Expenses
